Cultural values dining out is popular for Japanese.
This the way they meet friends, socialize with workmates, and entertain business contact.
The typical Japanese meal consists of a bowl of rice (gohan), a bowl of miso soup (miso shiru), pickled
vegetables (tsukemono) and fish or meat.
While rice is the staple food, several kinds of noodles (udon, soba and ramen) are cheap and very popular
for light meals.
As an island nation, the Japanese take great pride in their seafood.
A wide variety of fish, squid, octopus, eel, and shellfish appear in all kinds of dishes from sushi to tempura.
Traditional Japanese cuisine is mainly restricted to rice, vegetables, fish and fruit.
Food portions are generally small.
Japanese food culture is so unique that it often confuses travelers.
A noodle soup restaurant has its own etiquette, and a sushi restaurant has another.
Each dining experience is different in this country, making the food culture just as
enjoyable as the flavors.
They are beautifully presented and each flavor is kept separate.
Now days, the Western breakfast is becoming as popular as a traditional breakfast.
Dinner is often a mixture of Japanese dish ( fish as a main component) and a
Western or Chinese dish (based on meat or vegetables)
