PROJECT ON :

THE
TELEPHONE
INVENTION OF THE TELEPHONE:
 In 1870 ELISHA GREY & ALEXANDER BELL designed
devices to transmit speech electrically.

 The ‘Telegraph’ had been an established means of

communication for some 30 years, then.

 A telegraph was limited to

sending 1 message at a time.

 On June 2, 1875, Alexander

Graham Bell while experimenting
with his technique called
"harmonic telegraph" .
a telegraph
 Alexander
Graham Bell, the
famous inventor
of the telephone.
 On March 10, 1876, marked not only the birth
of the telephone but the death of the multiple
telegraph as well.

 Alexander’s notebook describes the whole

successful experiment.

 The first words said on the phone were,

” Mr. Watson, come here I want to see you”.
 The telephones of the ancient times.
The advantages of the telephone:
 Phones reduce the cost of long-distance communication by
using micro-wave towers instead of copper cable.

 There is a great attraction to the user of such a system.

Communication, once one has the access, is free.

 Telephones have become popular in the West.

 Research is going on in satellite-based communication.

 For good progress, use the service without consideration of

per-call costs - or very low per-call costs.
 Cellular telephones have become popular

 For progress, it is necessary to use service

without consideration of per-call costs - or very
low per-call costs.

 System performance requirements are eased

considerably.
Importance of telephones:
 A good way to manage your time effectively

 Immediate feedback - you can contact many people

in a short period of time

 Verifying contacts - you know immediately if the

proper person has received your application

 Interactive contact - you can tailor your presentation

to the contact's interests

 Demands attention - a ringing telephone is usually

answered immediately
Problems experienced while using a
phone:
 The addictive relation developed
between a mobile telephone and its
user.

 It is the biggest
‘non-drug addictions’ in the
21st century.
The age drop in the mobile phone
users:
 Teenagers are engaged on their mobile phones
all the time, no matter on phone calls, using
SMS text messages, personalizing the mobile
phones with ringtones and pictures,etc,.
 The innovation and growth on the
mobile phones front is astonishing.

 The year 2004 saw

674 million phones
being bought, and
estimates for 2005 were
stood at 730 million
The advantages of a cell phone:
 Mobiles serve as watches and alarm clocks.

 Even with the limited free games that come

with basic phones, they are already good for
time-pass.

 They can also function as calculators.

 Without the phone, many of us would be quite

lost in connecting with other people!
The mobile phone also becomes a
notepad ? send an SMS to oneself and
make it a reminder service.
The features the phones of today
posess:
 Digital camera
 Audio recorder
 Video recorder
 Multimedia messaging
 E-mail client
 Web client
 Gaming platform
 Document viewer
 Music player
 Wallet
 Barcode readers.
Effect of cell phone to human
health:
 Ionizing radiation: Contains enough
electromagnetic energy to strip atoms and molecules
from the tissue and alter chemical reactions in the
body.

 Non-ionizing radiation: Radiation is

typically safe. It causes someheating effect,
but usually not enough to cause any type of
long-term damage to tissue 15
Conclusion:
 Phones offer a viable solution to our need to
feel constantly connected.

 Cellular phones can provide

peace of mind, especially in
emergency situations.

Staying connected
 The ringing of these devices is constantly heard
in public places such as restaurants, movie
theaters, and grocery stores.
 People driving in
their vehicles with
their phones stuck
to their ears.
 Business meetings and classrooms
are not even immune.

 Even kids now own

not less then one phones.
So is the phone a blessing
or a curse?
 It would be nice if each one of us ask
ourselves.

 Because it is something without which we

just cant do.

 But indeed it has been the best inventions

ever.
