Introduction

 Deflection of a building component is an important parameter that has to be addressed

while undertaking a construction
 Since deflection is inversely proportional to stiffness, to obtain minimum deflection ,
stiffness has to be high.
 Mix design that must be performed should be such that the foreign material incorporated
along with the conventional mix must possess good flexural rigidity (EI).
 Moment of Inertia (I) of the fibre depends on the shape of the coloumn and Young’s
Modulus of the material has to be high enough to ensure good stiffness.
 Casting a block with such a mix and the deflection it showcases has to be addressed and
studied.

Need for this study

 Failure of coloumn due to lack of proper design mix is bound to

happen in most cases.

 In this study , We aim to showcase how a proper design mix along

with an additive fibre which has good elastic modulus, ensures
good stiffness properties with minimal deflection leading to less
failures.
OBJECTIVES

 To study the deflection of the coloumn with the proposed mix.

 To distinguish the variation in deflection of the conventional mix

with the proposed mix.
Methodology

• Mix-Design
• Testing of FRC mix
• Testing of samples
