Literary work
He was famous for his unique literary style. He used to write short pieces of prose
on topics like love, life, fortune, fear, hope, expectation, promise, prayer,
happiness, sorrow and so on. His poetry bears classical notes of Sufi traditions.
His Eulogy is worth mentioning as it harbors specific notes of Love for Holy
Prophet(P.B.U.H) as well as pray for Pakistan; and it has become increasingly
popular. He used to conduct question-answer sessions in (specially arranged
gatherings) at Lahore attended by the notable community of intellectual, writers
and seekers of truth from various walks of life. Luckily most of these sessions
were recorded in audio and transcriptions of these sessions were later as
“Guftagoo” series. His mehfil’s never had a pre-set subject nor did he ever
delivered sermons on a chosen topics. His way was to ask people if they had any
question; and then he used to respond to these quarries and curiosities in his
highly original style.
Wisdom of Modern Mystic
 “When the believer’s light of joy goes out, the
unbeliever’s home is lit up with ceremonial lamps. What
will he, who has no light in his heart, gain from a
festival of lamps?”.

 Such enlightened messages of mysticism from
Wasif Ali Wasif is the only remedy to
contemporary challenges facing us today and
Ejazul Haque’s book ‘Farmaish’ captures the
true spirit and wisdom of this modern mystic
of Contemporary times. The book compiled
by Ejazul Haque, is a tribute by a disciple to
commemorate the memory and wisdom of
Wasif Ali Wasif.
Position In Writing
Though his main claim to fame is his writings, a select circle knows that he was an
equally great conversationalist.

Ashfaq Ahmed,
the conversationalist par excellence of our time has said:

“ The sentences we concoct are our piece of

craft, Wasif’s lines came from somewhere else. His prose is simpler,
using figures of speech less frequently and thus sounds more natural
but it has distinctive qualities of fine poetry. Renowned politician
and connoisseur of art and literature”
