Purpose of the workshop
• Introduce ZOA to the government officials
• Introduce the emergency response plan (Project)
• Discuss on coordination and collaboration works in the future
I. Who is ZOA
• ZOA was founded in 1973 in The Netherlands
• The three letters ZOA are the abbreviation of the Dutch translation of South East Asia, the area where the
organization started its initial activities.
• ZOA is a Christian international non-governmental organization and supports people who suffer because of
armed conflict or natural disasters, in helping them to rebuild their livelihoods
• Operational Countries : Globally in 16 Countries
• Operational Sectors: Energy, Livelihoods & Food Security, Education, WASH, Shelter & Protection
• Donors:
 Private Donors (fifty thousand private donors in The Netherlands that includes, - Companies, Schools,
Churches and Trust funds.
 Receives funds from governments, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and the United
Nations
 Other institutional Donors

 Started to operate 20 years ago
 Geographic Locations: Somali, Tigray, Oromia, Gambela & Addis Ababa, Now started in Amhara
 Operational Sectors: Livelihoods and Food Security, Shelter, WASH, Energy & Protection
 Targets: Refugee, IDPs and Host communities

• Profile of the project


 Title: Emergency repose to IDPs in Debark town
 Objective: • IDP’s are partially led their stable life with improved basic services in Debark town
 Location: Debark town (now relocated to Dabat)
 Target groups: 630 IDPs in Debark from Tigray region
 Duration: three months; January to March 2021
 Budget : 150,000 euro ( ETB – 6,827,440.28)

• Project activities
 Meeting with Stakeholders (Launching)
 Cash Distribution (for both Food item & NFI) – Assessed the Market
 Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM)

• Implementation modality
 Develop selection criteria (to be commented by beneficiaries)
 Announcing the final selected targets
 Cash transfer through Bank- Abay Bank
- first payment include Food & NFI kits (ETB – 4,755)
- Second & third only for Food (ETB – 2,130)
 Strengthening monitoring (PDM, follow up discussion with local government)
• Management of the Project
- ZOA staff will in charge (ERC, LFS Co & MEAL)
- Local government staff (2 staff)
Next phase/plan ?
• There will be continuous follow up & evidence analysis on the IDP situation
• looking for potential funding is on table
• ZOA has interest to extend its supports in Amhara region up on available funds
