Future of Digital disruption in Automobiles: Toyota
 Toyota’s market cap was the largest among automakers by far, at about $184 billion.

 Toyota plans to open research institutes near Stanford University in Palo Alto, California as well as the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in Cambridge.

  Toyota is partnering with SoftBank. SoftBank, with a specialty in artificial intelligence to focus on delivery services on-demand
vehicles and data assessment.

 Toyota’s Mobility For All campaign supported by IBM Watson based artificial intelligence focused on “giving all of humankind the
freedom to move.”

 Toyota is launching a major initiative to accelerate the way society will live, work and play in the interconnected and smart cities.

 Toyota’s first battery electric vehicle developed specifically for Mobility as a Service (MaaS) applications.

 Features a new artificial intelligence system called “Yui” that learns from the driver and provides a personalized mobility experience
based on driving preferences and tastes

Future of Digital disruption in Automobiles
 Collision avoidance systems :advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) an AI-powered collision avoidance system, which can
warn vehicle drivers with both visual and audio alerts in real-time to avoid collisions.

 3D printed parts: 3D printing technology can enable automakers to mass produce, even the most complex parts.

 AI-scripted commercials: Toyota’s Lexus leveraged IBM Watson to create world first AI-scripted commercial.

 Predictive maintenance:  predict vehicle issues in advance using the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. The solution uses
in-car diagnostics to transmit vehicle data to the target audience through a near-real-time dashboard enabling to provide
preventative and predictive vehicle maintenance.

 Autonomous Car: All Automobile players including Toyota is working for Autonomous car. Toyota is investing $500 million in
Uber’s autonomous driving technology.
Future of Digital disruption in Automobiles
 Computing power’ and ‘connectivity’ are as important as ‘horsepower.’ The shape of the future automotive will be influenced by
the electric, autonomous, connected (EAC) vehicle - a highly configurable and continuously updating platform. The future buyer
will look forward to online software upgrades like mobile phone, which will provide a superior experience.

 Cars of the future are going to be more electronic than mechanical. 10% to 25% of the cost will be of software.

 A new ecosystem of suppliers and OEMs partnering with technology partners and create new bus. The entire value chain may be
disrupted. The software will become the binding interface between the driver and the hardware.

 The automobile of the future, driven by the Internet of Things (IoT), will be controlled with the buyer’s handheld device or voice.

 System like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). IOT sensors supporting 360-degree scanning, Vehicle-to-Vehicle
communication, Vehicle-to-Environment communication encompassing traffic, pedestrians, whether condition allow safe
movement, predictive maintenance would be ne normal.

 Rather, the primary risk is that Apple and Google could turn OEMs into mere hardware makers or “mere assemblers.

 The future of the automotive industry will be determined by a partnership of auto OEMs and technology firms for an infinitely
smart and advanced car.
