Your study at this level will focus on further developing
academic skills (note-taking listening to lectures, giving
presentations etc.).

Constructing meaning from different types of texts
(narrative, discursive etc.)
Exposure to long texts to get prepared for academic
argumentation

USE OF MOODLE IN OUR COURSES
In our courses we make use of MOODLE for:
1. communication purposes between students and instructors, and
also between students
to give students information about courses, to schedule
individual and group meetings with students, to communicate
course related information to students, etc.)

USE OF L1
• English is the medium of instruction at Bilkent University. It is
essential for us to maintain communication in English during:
▫ class, break-out room activities
▫ office hours on Zoom
▫ class spokes person meetings,
▫ E-mails, Whatsapp messaging
All students
▫ are expected to be fluent and accurate users of English both in oral and written
communication.
▫ are responsible for contributing to an English-only environment by taking every
opportunity to practice and experiment with English and also responding to
opportunities created for them to communicate in English.

When you read or listen to a text, look for the
grammar structures you’ve learnt and try to form
similar sentences yourself.
use the new words and grammar structures in

2) Listening and Reading
 Stay away from any distractions in online classes
such as cell phones, messaging with friends, watching
videos etc.
 Actively participate in the class activities
 Come to class prepared; study unknown vocabulary
in the texts
 After class, do the activities on Globed Achieve3000
(Online Component).
 Read and listen regularly outside the class:
- Resources on Moodle: useful links about the topics in the
coursebook
- Internet: millions of online resources from stories to e-
books, from newspaper articles to videos on current
issues
3) Writing and Speaking

• Stay away from any distractions in the class such as cell


phones or chatting with friends

•Actively participate in the classroom activities and don’t


miss any opportunity to get teacher’s feedback

• Always keep your monolingual dictionary with you
