Unit – 3 HUMAN RIGHTS

Human Rights and its Characteristics:-


• Human rights are those minimum rights which every individual must have
against state or public authority being member of Human family.
• Characteristics of Human Rights:-

1] Universal Application:-
• Human rights have universal application irrespective of race, religion, caste
and sex
• It is general, universal in character and is applicable for human beings all
over the world
2] Purpose:-
• The main purpose of human rights is protection of human dignity
• In today’s world these are acts of communal violence, child abuse,
• Gender bias which is violation of human rights due to poor application of
human rights and politics.
3] Conditions of social life:-
• In Today’s world, unethical members of society openly exploit innocent
people by using muscle and money power.
• This people who are danger for society make life of people miserable,
hence human rights are important to protect them.
4] Support Human Development:-
• Human rights helps and support the people to utilize his qualities and
skills
• The person from different social, physical, mental conditions can prove his
abilities.
5] Origin:-
• Human rights are as old as human civilization.

• But in this modern world, human rights are more specified and well
defined
6] Independent of State:-
• Human rights are national rights of each and every individuals.
• They are conferred by state [ country] governments.
Universal declaration of Human Rights and their articles:-

• The [UDHR] Universal declaration of Human Rights was adopted by


United Nations in general assembly of 10th December 1948 at Paris
• All the member states [ country ] have pledge them self in cooperation
with United Nations to promote Universal respect of Human rights.
• Some articles of UDHR are as follows:-
• Article 1:-
• All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights

• Article 2:-
• Every one is entitled to all rights without discrimination of race, color, sex,
language, religion, nationality, birth place etc.
• Article 3:-
• Every one has rights of life, liberty and security

• Article 4:-
• No one should be held in slavery and the slave trade is prohibited in all
their forms
• Article 5:-
• No one should be torture and treated in inhuman way

• Article 6:-
• Every one is equal before law
• Article 9:-
• No one shall be subject to arbitory arrest, detention and exile.
• Article 10:-
• Every one is exhibited in full equality to a fair and public hearing in court
of low
• Article 15:-
• Every one has the right to a nationality

• No one can deprived or denied change nationality


• Article 16:-

• Men and women of full age of any race, religion, nationality have right to
many and do family
• Marriages should be free with content
