MENOPAUSE
Menopause is a condition in which a woman no longer experiences menstruation which occurs between
the ages of 50 and 59 years (Harlow, 2012) .
Menopause indicates that a woman's menstrual and reproductive period has ended. This happens
because the ovaries are aging. This aging of the ovaries causes the production of the hormone estrogen
to decrease, resulting in an increase in the hormones FSH and LH. This increase in the FSH hormone
causes the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle to shorten until menstruation does not occur again.
Menopause according to WHO means the cessation of the menstrual cycle forever for women who
previously had menstruation every month, which is caused by the number of follicles experiencing
atresia that continues to increase, until there are no longer follicles, and in the last 12 months
experiencing amenorrhoea, and not caused by conditions pathological
THESE PHYSICAL CHANGES
can include hot flushes, insomnia, vaginal dryness, bone disorders, aches and pains,
wrinkled and thin skin, heart discomfort
THE PSYCHOLOGICAL
CHANGES
that occur are irritability, moodiness, forgetfulness and difficulty concentrating.
