INTRODUCTION

The Quran is the Last `& Final Book

of Allah.

THE
HOLY It serves as the only Authentic
Source of Guidance
QURAN

It is a Complete Code of Life

Made By: Fakhera Khaliq

RELATION OF QURAN WITH OTHER
SOURCES
The Quran is the only independent source of
01 making
law

All other 3 sources (Hadith, Ijma & Qiyas) are

02 interlinked together and dependent on the
Quran

The Quran does support them directly or

03 indirectly

If any other source goes against the Quran, it

04 will be declared invalid

01
RELATION OF QURAN
WITH HADITH

Made By: Fakhera Khaliq

Hadith is the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh).
It covers all aspects of his life either his
saying, action or silent approval

It guides us in each walk of life Thus Hadith has a vital role and
after the Quran and it teaches significant relation with the
Muslims in their individual, social Quran as its is also used as 2nd
and legal matters. source of guidance in legal
thinking

HADITH

Allah (SWT) also emphasized on Therefore, he did not only deliver

the importance of Hadith and he the Quranic verses to the
commanded Muslims to follow, Muslims but also demonstrated
obey and imitate him in their lives practically all commandments

Muslims are unable to understand & practice

Quranic teachings without Hadith & Sunnah
hence the Prophet (pbuh) was sent as the
Teacher & Interpreter of the Quran
Made By: Fakhera Khaliq
The Quran itself declares Hadith
as the 2nd source of guidance as
states:
“ And obey Allah and obey the
Messenger.”
Again it says:
“ One who obeys the Messenger
indeed obeys Allah.”

Example 1 Religious Teachings:
All fundamental beliefs & practices have been explained by the
Prophet (pbuh)

For Prayer the Quran says:

▪ “And establish Prayer to remember Me.” [20:14]

The Prophet (pbuh) explained the method of Prayer verbally &

practically
“ Offer Prayer as you see me offering.” –Hadith-

But no method of Prayer discussed in the Quran

Similarly, all other religious teachings (Fasting, Hajj etc) have been
described in detail by the Hadith

Example 2 Legal Punishment:

For committing adultery, Allah has prescribed 100 whips to flog

unmarried man or woman

As it says in Surah Nur: “As for the fornicators and the fornicator, flog each
of them one hundred lashes and do not take pity in enforcing the law
ordained by Allah.” [24:2]

But this punishment is specific for unmarried people but for

married the Quran is silent

Hadith described “Rajam” – Stoning till death – if married

people commit adultery they would be stoned till death.

one companion Hazrat Maiz (R.A) has been sentenced with

Rajam during the Prophet’s lifetime

Made By: Fakhera Khaliq

Example 3 Legal Punishment:
All Quranic punishments are also further explained in Hadith as for
theft it commanded to cut off the hands of thief either man or woman

As it comes in the Quran: "The male thief, and the female thief, you shall cut off
their hands as a punishment for their deeds."[ 5:38]

But it is not mentioned to what extent the hands should be cut off nor
the amount of theft is given

It is the Hadith which commanded to cut the right hand up to wrist on the theft
of 10 Darham value thing

And the Hadith also exempted the punishment in the theft of fruits as a
Hadith says: “ There is no cutting hands in fruits.”

02
RELATION OF QURAN
WITH IJMA

Made By: Fakhera Khaliq

• Infographic Style IJMA
A Hadith says: “My nation will never agree on an error.”
Ijma is the 3rd source of
Islamic law It means
“consensus of opinion by The Quran does not support Ijma
legal experts in Islamic directly as It was practiced originally
matter” after the demise of the Prophet
It is used to face new challenges (pbuh)
and problems that were not
discussed in the Quran nor Hadith
like blood donation, human body However, the Quran supports
part transplantation, postmortem, the spirit of Ijma ‘consultation’
Nikkah through internet or phone As it says: “And consult them
etc in affairs (of moment).”

It is supported by the Quran

and Hadith as well a Hadith
says: “My nation will never
agree on an error.”
Made By: Fakhera Khaliq
Example 1 Seal of Prophets:

According to Quranic teachings the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the last

Messenger of Allah and no other prophet can come after him

As particularly Surah Ahzab says:

“But he is the messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.”

In the light of this belief scholars have done Ijma that if any one claims to be a
Prophet of Allah after him he and his followers will be non believers

As Qadianis were declared Kafir in 1974 by the constitution of

Pakistan

Prohibition of Grand Mothers\Daughters for
Example 2 Marriage

In Islamic teachings one can not marry with his own mother, aunts, sisters,
daughters etc

As it states in surah Nisa:

“Forbidden to you for marriage are: your mothers, your daughters, your
sisters……..”

But there is nothing about grandmothers and granddaughters marriage in the Quran
nor in Hadith

It is the Ijma of scholars who declared Haram to marry with ones own
grandmothers or granddaughters

03
RELATION OF QURAN
WITH QIYAS

Made By: Fakhera Khaliq

Qiyas is the 4th source of Islamic law it means
“logical reasoning of a legal expert in Islamic
matter” it is also used when the Primary source is
silent in some legal matters

It is not supported directly in the Quran as ‘Qiyas’

was introduced first time by Imam Abu Hanifa but
the Quran supports the spirit of Qiyas, ‘use of
reasoning’

In many places in the Quran Allah motivated

Muslims to ponder over the creation of Allah and
to take lessons.

Rules of Qiyas must be interlinked with Quranic

teachings to exercise Qiyas its 4 components are
employed they are Asl (actual law of Quran \
Hadith), Far (new problem), Illa (similar cause b\w
Asal & Far) & Hukum (Rule or command)
Made By: Fakhera Khaliq
As a verse of the Quran states:
“Indeed, in the creation of the
heavens and the earth and
the alternation of the night and the
day are signs for
those of understanding.”

Example 1 Khamar & New Drugs :

According to the Quran Khamar (Wine) is forbidden As it states: “O People who

Believe! Wine (all intoxicants), and gambling……… are impure - the works of Satan,
therefore keep avoiding them so that you may succeed. "But the Quran is silent on new
drugs like cocaine, opium, weeds, LSD etc.

Therefore, scholars performed Qiyas linking it with Asal which is the Quran that
mentioned using Khamar Haram and it is compared with Far (new drugs) to find the
similar cause that is intoxication in both Asal and Far. Finally it was concluded that
all new drugs are unlawful.

Example 2 Transaction after Friday Azan:

According to the Quran selling or purchasing is forbidden after Friday Aazan and
Muslims must prepare for Friday Prayer.

As it states in surah Juma:“O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the
prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and
leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.”

Working on Qiyas, this law of the Quran was applied on all other administrative
work, online business etc because it may also cause Muslims to miss out on
Friday congregational Prayer.

04
CONCLUSION
Thus it absolutely shows the supremacy and
authority of the Quran being the foremost
source of Islamic Law.All other sources must
be according to the Quranic teachings
