Fullwave Rectifier

Objectives
After completing this section, you should be able to
• Analyze the operation of a full-wave rectifier
• Describe how the diode functions in a rectifier
• Determine the average value of a full-wave rectified voltage
• Define peak inverse voltage (PIV)

Effect of the Turns Ratio on Full-Wave
Output Voltage
• If you do not know the voltage, but do know the turns ratio of the
transformer, you can calculate the peak output voltage for a full-wave
rectifier from the following equation:

  𝑉 𝑝 ( 𝑠𝑒𝑐 )
𝑉 =
𝑝 (𝑜𝑢𝑡 )
