TYPES OF COMPETITIONS

 1▪︎Open Competition

 2▪︎Limited Competition/Competition By Invitation

 3▪︎Special Competition

 4▪︎Regional Special Category Competition

 Competition in which all architects are invited to participate through.

 Participants can be participate the competition through announcement by advertisements


in suitable media and through circulars which may be issued by the promoters.

 Open Competition for projects estimated at less than Rs. 10,00,000 may be restricted to
architects who have their main or branch office in the state of the project site.

2▪︎LIMITED COMPETITION OR COMPETITION BY INVITATION:


 Competition in which limited no of architects i.e approx 5 to 8 are selected.

 They are selected by the promoters on the advice of the senior architect assessor or
board of assessors ,are invited to participate.

 Each participants who submits his designs shall receive an honorarium.


z 3▪︎SPECIAL COMPETITION:
 A competition may also combine town planning as well as design problems and may
involve the use of industrial components or participation of developers.

 In such a competition participation may be required to be limited to professionals or


group of professionals with certain definite expertise.

 In such a case the competition announcement shall clearly define the field of expertise.

4▪︎REGIONAL SPECIAL CATEGORY COMPETITION:

 This type of competitions is intended for small projects of charitable organizations in


which four or six local firms will compete for the appointment at the architect.

 No premiums are given and the winner shall be appointed to carry out the project.
