• The author of the story seems to be very interested in exploring the unknown
areas of the world.
• The narrator of the story is Marlow who seems to be the author Joseph Conrad’s
self character presented in his novel.
• Morlow always wondered to see a dark place on the map and stare a
long time on it, which is black on the map.
• This time was the height of Colonialism of British’s over Africa.And the
dark place on the map was called Beligium Congo.
• When was on the way to central station he had a chance to see the
working and cruelty of the colonizers and how they are taking hard
work from these people.
• On his way, Marlow had to wait for ten days in the company’s outer
station. There he had to sleep in a hut, which strikes Marlow as a
scene of devastation.
• Kurtz is very famous among the natives of the Congo, and he is very
able person and widely respected first class agent and very
remarkable person.
• He all alone sends as much ivory as all the outers put together. Due to
his this beneficial ability many other agents got jealous of him.
• Marlow departs with caravan of sixty men to travel on foot about 200
miles into the wilderness to the central station , where the steamboat
that he is to be captain.
• On the 15th day of his march he reached at the station where he meet
Euorpean fellow that his steamboat has been wrecked in an accident
two days earliar.
• There he meet with general manager ,who inform him about Kurtz
bad health situation and before that he had listened a lot of about
him, therefore he became keen interested to meet with him.
