Exposition
• Part of speech : Noun
• Meaning : a clear and full explanation of an idea or theory
• Example : The teacher is explaining about the law on workers
that was released two days ago.
An analytical exposition text, also called a persuasive text, is a form of essay or
argumentative text designed to persuade the reader or listener that something is
the case (good, bad, necessary, harmful, beneficial, etc)

• The text consists of three parts:


• Thesis, which indicates the topic, and ends with reasoning or proff of
the statement.
• Argument, which lists reasons, facts, or statistics, or provides
examples.
• Reiteration, which restates the thesis statement or draws a conclusion
based on the argument.
Persuasive Writing
Persuasive writing is a piece of writing in which the writer tries to
convince the reader of a writer’s opinion about a certain issue.
Essentially, the writer offers an opinion and the arguments that support
it in this essay. It is also called creative writing or an argument.

Due to its nature, persuasive writing is often used for advertisement, in


order to convince customers to buy certain products.

A good piece of persuasive writing should always be supported with


facts or data that supports the writer’s point.
An exposition text is also called an argumentative text.
What is an argument?

Here are there definitions:


1. A disagreement; a noisy quarel;
2. A reason given to support or disprove something;
3. The use of reason to decide something or persuade someone.

The second and third definitions are the definitions of an argument in


the academic context.
Topic/Thesis: Why books are important for us?
There are several reasons for the statement.
Arguments/ reasons
Firstly, books are crucial in developing the mind and help foster critical
thinking.
Secondly, books records facts and review histories.
Lastly, books do not also educate, but also entertain.

Reiteration/ Closure
Based on the reasons above, it is obvious that reading books is
important for us.
