What is HIV ?
HIV stands for “Human
Immunodeficiency Virus”. It is a
special kind of virus that
attacks specific cells in our
body.
HIV destroys special cells in
our body called “CD4” cells.
These “CD4” cells allow our
body to fight of diseases,
keeping us healthy and happy!
HIV makes our immune
system very weak.
Without these
“CD4”cells, our body is
left vulnerable to the
dangers of disease and
sickness!
What is Aids?
Aids is the “final stage” of
the HIV disease. When the
HIV virus goes untreated,
and it kills enough of our
special “CD4” cells, we have
the “acquired
immunodeficiency
syndrome “ or “Aids”. At this
point, the immune system
has undergone so much
damage there is little
doctors can do.
