Ancillary Task 1 (Poster)
The film poster I have created follows the codes and conventions of a dance film therefore there are
many similarity's.
As you can see in the posters at the bottom of the page, the posters all feature images of movements
from within the scene, and this is something that I have also incorporated into my poster. The
colour schemes used within the posters are black, white red and orange and some greyscale images
, I have used similar colours on my poster too.
Each of the posters all have small print about the film at the bottom of the poster and this is something I
have also added to mine too. Some posters also have an added age rating however on many of the
dance film posters I have looked at this has not been included therefore I have also not added this
to my poster.

In some ways my poster challenges some of the conventions as most posters have a
full background either filled with colour or with images in the background. Mine
on the other hand only has a four images from the film and then a white wash
used within the middle which enables the middle photo of the character to stand
out.
Ancillary Task 2 (Magazine Cover)
The film magazine front cover I have created follows conventional patterns of real
media products. These being;
K The magazine name is clearly printed at the top and horizontal on the page.
K There is a barcode, issue number and date.
K House style is used through out

My magazine cover challenges many conventions, a starting point for this
would be is that there is no full back ground image as most magazines tend to
have, instead I have a simple cut out image of which I have also used on my
poster, making it familiar for its audience to recognise.
My magazine cover also has more than one image however these are images
from the film and I have made this particular issue for the magazine to be a
͚special edition͛ on the film.
Trailer
Our film starts with the green screen stating that the film has been approved. This is a typical
convention for trailers. This also states the age rating at the beginning of the trailer. It also
features the production company logo and the age rating at the end, by following these
conventions our media product has similarities to a real media product as the conventions
are followed.
Through out the trailer there are title cards which enable the audience to be told what is going
on such as the establishing shot or the city then the title card saying one city which tells the
audience that this is all happening in one city. This is something that many other trailers do as
it gives short snaps of information to its audience that would make them want to know
more.
In other dance films I have looked at within the first few seconds of the trailer they have shown
an establishing shot of the area the film is set in. for my trailer I have made this the first shot
to be seen so that it is clear to the audience, in the dance film Honey this shot is of a well
known tourist attraction within New York and in my trailer I have used a tourist attraction
within London that is easy to recognise.

The beat of the music also suits the speed and edit of the cuts and as we are introduced and see
more characters within the trailer the music speeds up and the cuts get faster which builds
up suspense for the audience and wants them want to see more, then leaves this high energy
point with suspense and tones down to show the end credits, making the audience want to
go to see this film. I have noticed this in many dance films and in dance films that cover a
range of different dance they start with a slower genre and build this up with a fast beat and
faster cuts to make the trailer more exciting, and draws the audience in, then ends with
coming soon making the audience stay peeled for the next trailer.
