Objective:

To identify
and use new
vocabulary.
TYPES OF RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Renewable energy: A renewable energy source means

energy that is sustainable - something that can't run out,
or is endless, like the sun.

Key words.
wind power- hydro power- biofuel - solar energy- geothermal
energy.
WIND POWER.
Wind power is the use of air flow through wind turbines to
mechanically power generators for electricity.
WIND POWER BENEFITS.
- Wind energy is friendly to the surrounding environment.
- No fossil fuels are burnt to create electricity.
- Wind energy is the least expensive compared to other renewable
sources.
Hydro Power.
Hydropower is power derived from the energy of falling water or fast
running water, which may be harnessed for useful purposes.
Hydro power benefits:
- Clean, affordable and reliable energy.
- Protection from floods and droughts.
- Avoiding pollutants and emissions.
Geothermal Energy.
Geothermal energy is thermal energy generated and stored in the
earth. Thermal energy is the energy that determines the temperature
of matter.
Geothermal energy benefits:
- It is a stable power source.
- It provides significant savings for homeowners.
- It has a low visual impact.
Biofuel.
A biofuel is a fuel that is produced through contemporary biological
processes, such as agriculture and anaerobic digestion, rather than a
fuel produced by geological processes.
Biofuel benefits:
- More rural manufacturing jobs.
- Agriculture development.
- Less air pollution.
Solar Energy.
Solar Energy is radiant light and heat from the sun that is harnessed
using a range of ever-evolving technologies such as solar heating,
photovoltaic, solar thermal energy, solar architecture and artificial
photosynthesis.
Solar energy benefits:
- Reduce your energy bill.
- More solar energy in sumer.
- Pollution free.
