 OBJECTIVES:
 DEMONSTRATE THE MEANING OF RHYTHMIC PATTERNS BY CLAPPING IN
2/4 TIME SIGNATURE;
 PERFORM OSTINATO USING HALF NOTE AND HALF REST IN TWO-TIME
METER;
 CREATE RHYTHMIC PATTERN USING NOTES AND REST IN TWO-FOUR TIME
SIGNATURE;AND
 IDENTIFY ACCENTED AND UNACCENTED PULSES.
METER – Is the Rhythmic structure, the patterns of accents heard in
regularly recurring measures of stressed and unstressed beats.

A meter is labeled as duple,triple,quadruple,and compound.


Those with two beast are called duple meter;
Those with three beats are called triple meter;
Those with four beats are called quadruple meter;and
Those with more than four beats are called compound meter.
The time signature also indicates the strong and weak beats
which make it easier to distinguish one from the other.
The sounds are strong and soft.This combination of
sounds is called meters in two or duple meter (beats
grouped into two with the accented beat in number 1
and the unaccented beat in number 2).
The top number indicates how many beats are in a measure.
The bottom number indicates the beat value.

length of the beat.
There are several basic conducting gestures. These gestures
(hand and arm movements)convey the time signature and
meter of a particular piece.

1.In conducting a duple meter 2/4 time signature,move your


right hand and arm following the directions as illustrated in
figure 1.Put in an extra lilt for the strong beat.
