SUBJECT QUESTIONS
They ask information about the subject. The order of the question is:

Who and what are the subjects of the question: WHO/WHAT + VERB + (SENTENCE)?

* No inversion is necessary.
Who teaches you English?
More examples:

What is in the garage?  The car is in the garage.


Laura teaches us English. Who works in a bank?  Mike works in a bank.
What was on the table?  The food was on the table.

2) Rainy weather makes me sad.
What makes you sad?

They ask information about the object.

The question pronouns are:


WHO: quién (people)

WHAT: qué (objects, weather, animals, ideas…)

WHERE: dónde (places)

WHEN: cuándo (time)

HOW OFTEN: cada cuánto (frequency)

HOW: cómo (mode)

WHY: por qué (reason)

The order of the question is:

QUESTION PRONOUN + AUXILIARY + SUBJECT + VERB + (SENTENCE)?

I’m cooking a cake.

What are you cooking?

More examples:

Where are you from?  I’m from Elche.


Who do you live with?  I live with my parents and my brother.
Why are you so angry?  I’m angry because it’s raining and I can’t go out.
How often do you go shopping for clothes?  I go shopping for clothes once a month.

Make object
questions:
1) It snows here in winter.
When does it snow here?
2) I met my best friend last weekend.
Who did you meet last weekend?
3) On Saturday morning I usually go running.
What do you usually do on Saturday morning?

ADVERBS OF MANNER
Adverbs of manner are those which talk about HOW the action is done. Remember that an adverb modifies
the verb.

Laura walks quickly.

To make adverbs, we use the adjective + -ly:


beautiful  beautifully

slow  slowly

And we can make comparatives with them. They don’t change:


I sing more beautifully than you.

Mark doesn’t do his homework as easily as you.

He writes less quickly than me.


ADVERBS OF MANNER
HOWEVER, THERE ARE IRREGULAR ADVERBS:

adjective adverb And, to make comparative sentences, they use their ADJECTIVE form:

hard hard I work harder than you.

A dolphin swims faster than a shark.

A kangaroo can jump higher than a chihuahua.

The P.E. teacher doesn’t live as far as the English teacher.

Complete with the correct
adverb form:
I sing … (loud) 
I sing loudly.
Paul dances … (beautiful) than me because he’s a professional dancer 
Paul dances more beautifully than me because he’s a professional dancer.
I can play football … (good) than my friends 
I can play football better than my friends.
She doesn’t walk … (quick) as them because she’s got short legs 
She doesn’t walk as quicky as them because she’s got short legs.
