Sun Microsystems

• Move forward with the first phase of implementation which includes

Medium priority products i.e. Power Supplies, Drives/Removable
media and enclosures
• Also only 50% of the current ordering would be through Dynamic
bidding auction and the rest 50% through the native process, this will
enable a smooth transition and also let suppliers see the benefits
through dynamic bidding
• To ensure fair play integrate the Oracle and SAP to the bidding
software so as to generate purchase order directly from system and
reduce back channel deals post auction
Sun Microsystems
• Demand is increasing and SUN isn’t able to keep up with the
demands, with Dynamic bidding by cutting the negotiation time
volume influx would be higher. Even if the margins for profit by a
dynamic bidding decreases the increase in volume would help them
gain a higher profit
• Considering vendor selection they need a vendor with high software
attributes along with an array of service options, eXcellent fulfils this
criteria, also it could provide hand holding in the initial part of
implementation and reduce the service level gradually
Sun Microsystems
• As we are implementing with medium priority supplier with only 50%
of the current supply we can easily revert back to the original process
in case we face any issues and if the dynamic bidding is a success and
other companies follow suit we will already have enabled software
and a number of suppliers with renewed trust in the organisation
• We will have a first mover advantage and will have a head start
enabling us to gain significant market share in the transition
