ENGAGEMENT INSIGHT

MANAGEMENT PARTICIPATION

OVERSIGHT EQUITY
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT
● The use of formative assessment in the classroom positively impacts student achievement
more so than almost any other educational intervention.
● Pear Deck helps teachers infuse formative assessment seamlessly into each lesson and
provides them with real-time insight into student understanding so they can respond and
adapt.
TEACHER DASHBOARD
The Teacher Dashboard: allows teachers to view student responses instantly, giving them real-
time insight from formative assessments. This allows them to quickly adapt instruction to meet
student needs.
ACTIVE LEARNING
Active learning techniques are used to directly engage students in the learning process through
discussion and activities. In contrast to passive lectures, active learning can have huge benefits
on outcomes including reducing achievement gaps and increasing student achievement.
1. Custom & pre-made prompts
2. Share responses to create discussions
SHARING RESPONSES
When a teacher shares student responses with the class, those answers are always projected
anonymously. This is critical to ensure that every student feels safe contributing to the class
discussion. Teachers can guide students to discuss differing opinions and approaches in a
respectful manner, which leads to a more engaged and inclusive learning community.

TAKEAWAYS
● Takeaways can only be published once per Session. But you can present an unlimited number of Sessions with Pear Deck.
● They are individualized, editable Google Docs, so you can leave comments for students and vice versa. They also contain
space for notes.
● When you publish them, they're automatically saved in your Google Drive in the Pear Deck > Takeaways folder.
● When you publish them, each student who joined the Session gets access to their own Takeaway only (not their peers'
Takeaways). Students can find their copy in the Share with me section of their Google Drive.
● In the Takeaway, students see every slide in the Session and all of the answers they submitted to the interactive
questions.
● The teacher has ownership and editing rights to each student's Takeaway. You can share a Takeaway with other teachers,
parents, or mentors via the Google Drive share interface.
● Each time you publish Takeaways you get a blank responses copy, which is stored in the Google Drive folder with the rest
of the Takeaways in the Session. You can share it to a student who missed class so they can work through the lesson.

Grading Responses
● Flubaroo
○ After a Pear Deck Session, you can export responses to Google Sheets.
○ Then, use Flubaroo, the free Google Add-on, to automatically generate grade reports and email them
to your students if you wish.
What is one way you could immediately implement Pear Deck into your class?
