History/Origin
• Greenpeace originated from a 1970s
Vancouver group called the Don’t Make a
Wave Committee, which protested US nuclear
testing in Alaska.
• The group eventually adopted the name
Greenpeace, stating the group’s concern for
the planet and opposition to bear arms.
