LOCAL HISTORY

When the Romans arrived, in the

last century before the Christian
era, the region was inhabited by
Celts and Germans. The Empire
was never able to occupy the area
of ​the Frisians, north of the
Rhine, and settled in the delta,
where it formed the provinces of
Belgium and Lower Germania.
The 17th century is called the
Golden Age in the history of
Holland, because the country
was at the center of events,
alternating with the powers of
the time. There was talk of
the birth of a great and proud
nation, which was not
doubted until the end of that
century.

 Dutch Traditional Music and Musical
Instruments
There is a long history of church organs and the
mechanical street organ called the draaiorgel. The
draairogel is a musical instrument that is played by
moving musical patterns.  There is a turning pinned
barrel or disc, or a cardboard or paper strip with
holes in it.
The accordion, violin, recorder and harmonica also
are used to play traditional folk music.
Traditional Dutch music is known as “Levenslied”
meaning life song or song about life. These types of
songs have catchy, simple rhythms and melodies.

a black skirt, stripped apron, shawl
and lace hat, along with wooden
shoes (Klompen) are what most
people believe or consider to be the
traditional dress of Holland and the
rest of the countries.
