Introduction

 Born in 576/583 in Taif to Affan Ibn Abi Al (AS) and Arwa Bint Kurayz.
 He (RA) belonged to Banu Umayyah clan of Quraysh tribe.
 He was the second cousin and the twice son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH)
 He was the 5th person to embrace Islam.
 He (RA) was given multiple titles such as Ghani, Zun Noorain and Jame-ul-
Quran.
 He became the third Caliph of Islam
 He died on 17th June 656 aged 79-80.
Life Before Islam

 He was one of the few inhabitants of Mecca who could read and write.
 His father, Affan Ibn Abi Al (AS) passed away early making Him (RA) the richest
man in Mecca.
 He was greatly respected for his kind nature.

UMAR AND HOLD THE OFFICE OF CALIPHATE FOR 12 YEARS FROM 644 AH TO 656 AH.

Sayings of Holy Prophet about Hazrat
Usman
 1. Every Prophet will have a special companion of Him in the Heaven, and my
companion there will be Usman. (Ibn-e-Majah)
 2. Should I not feel shame from Usman to whom the angels feel shame from.
(Muslim)
 3. Oh Usman!, if ALLAH some day give you this government and the hypocrites
want you to put off this shirt (government) which ALLAH gave you, then you
should not put it off. [Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w) repeated these words three
times] (Ibn-e-Majah, Tirimzi)
 Holy Prophet married his two daughter to Hazrat usman each after the demise of
other. On one occasion Holy Prophet said “ if I had 100 daughters I would marry
them to usman”
Death

 Hazrat Usman was martyred on 644 AH on the hands of munafiqeen

False Allegations on Hazrat Usman

 He was murdered on the basis of false allegations that were imposed on him
1. Dismissed the people on positions and appointed people of Umayyad clan
2. Bad treatment of important companion
3. Misuse of Government money
4. Burning of Quran
