AIM

The Aim of the proposed work is to implement various tuning

methods for the breathing process and by using these tuning methods it
gives a better result when compared to traditional controllers.

OBJECTIVES
 To compare a different types of tuning methods for breathing process.
 To find a finer tuning method for breathing process.

MOTIVATION

 The main motive of this process is to increase the ventilation pressure for
the one who is suffering from insufficient of breathing.

 This proposed tuning process helps the patients to breathe sufficiently by

increasing the pressure when their breathing pressure is low.

PID CONTROLLER

 PID stands for proportional integral derivative and is a type Pressure, flow,
temperature, and speeds are some of the process variables that are controlled
by this system in industrial applications.
 To regulate all of the process variables, this controller employs a control loop
feedback system
 A PID controller holds the output at zero error between the method variable
and the set point / desired output by using closed-loop operations.

AUTO TUNING METHOD

 Ultimate gain and period can be obtained without trial and error procedure.
 It is just set of tools to automate the procedure of finding a set of parameter
 These methods are easy to use and take a short period of time to compute.
 PID controllers' auto-tuning technology successfully overcomes the time-
consuming limitations of human tuning.

RESULT AND DISCUSSION

 In the proposed method the simulations are carried out for the breathing
support machine.
 The results are achieved for various tuning methods like Ziegler Nichols,
Auto tune, Tyreus Luyben.
 The simulations were done for various pressure ranges like 25, 40, 50 psi.
The PID controller streaks less effort to produce gain in the process.
 When this PID controller can be used along with the tuning techniques it
yields better response.

RESPONSE OF PID CONTROLLER

Fig 1. Combined response without controller at 25psi

When the pressure is 25psi at without controller in Fig.1 the volume is 0.158ml and
the flow is 83ml/sec.

RESPONSE OF AUTO TUNING METHOD

Fig 2.Combined response of Auto tune at 25psi

When using the controller of auto tuning method the pressure is at 25psi in
Fig.2 then the pressure is increased to 57psi and the volume is to 2.75ml and
the flow is 0.7 ml/sec.

RESPONSE OF TYREUS LUYBEN METHOD

Fig 3. Combined Tyreus Luyben at 25psi

When using Tyreus Luyben in Fig.3 for controlling when the pressure is 25psi, then the
pressure increased to 200psi and the volume is 5ml and the flow is at 0.8ml/sec.

RESPONSE OF ZIEGLER NICHOLS METHOD

Fig 4. Combined Ziegler Nichols at 25 psi

Using Ziegler Nichols method for tuning in Fig.4 when the pressure is at 25psi then
the pressure increased to 100psi and the volume is 10ml and the flow is at
0.75ml/sec.

CONCLUSION
 The simulation result shows the response of pressure, volume and flow of the
breathing process.
 The tuning were done for pressure, volume and flow with Ziegler Nichols,
Tyreus Luyben, Auto tune simulations at various pressure like 25, 40, 50 psi.
 Among these methods from table 3, it is observed that the Tyreus Luyben
method shows the best response where compared to the other tuned controllers.

FUTURE SCOPE
 In Future, along with Genetic Algorithm (GA) Tyreus Luyben tuning method
can be more effective breathing process.
 GA’s are ideal for solving optimization problems.
 The Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a search-based optimization technique based on
genetics and natural selection principles
