Informal
reports
Basically two main categories:

1.  Informative:
a. Progress reports

2. Analytical:
a. Justification/Recommendation Reports
b. Feasibility Reports
Information Reports
i. Reports that collect and organize
information or investigative.
ii. Records routine activities such as
daily, weekly, and monthly reports of
sales or profits.
iii.Do not analyze that information.
iv. Written in Direct pattern

a. Sources: Local stores, vendors, loyal customers
b. Area: DHA (4,5,&6)

To inform

activities or conditions
No analysis of the situation, no
conclusion , no recommendation
Scenarios
1. A manufacturer of breakfast cereal
wants to determine the characteristics
of its consumers
2. The manufacturer of a toothpaste
wants to learn what the public thinks
of its products in relation to competing
products
3. A building contractor engaged to build
a new office for Company X submits a
report summarizing its monthly
progress
4. The supervisor of production must
compare three competing machines
that are being considered for use in a
particular production job.
1. Progress Reports.
i. Progress reports monitor the headway of unusual
or non routine activities.
ii. For example, progress reports would keep
management informed about a committee’s
preparations for a trade show 14 months from
now.
iii. Such reports usually answer three questions:
(1) Is the project on schedule?
(2) Are corrective measures needed?
(3) What activities are next?
