METHOD
Method
- The way by which each portion of the process shall be
done to eliminate damage to the product and eliminate
areas where time and manpower are wasted.

Manpower
- Ideal number of people to perform each part of
the method
- What positions shall each person be in?
- How will the personnel be trained and measured
for performance?
- What is the “cycle time” of each part of the
method?
MACHINE

Machine
- Equipment that should be insequence according
to the identified method
- Facilities, vehicles, tools should be in place to
ensure safety of the employees while maximizing
the efficiency and productivity of the department
- Do all the employees have access to the same
tools and equipment if needed?

- Do the tools enable the employees to perform


tasks independently?
- Are the employees trained on how to maintain
the machinery and tools?
MATERIALS

- May be raw materials, semi-processed or semi-


finished goods, or even finished products.
- Are the materials needed to perform all parts of
the production in place and conveniently located
to minimize waste? (example: cleaning and
packaging materials)
- Does the layout of the production department
minimize waste movement? (example: direction of
part flow)
