CRTICAL THINKING : A CONVENTIONAL
CONCEPT
 DEFINITION:
 Intellectually disciplined process of proficiently and actively applying the skills of
analysis, synthesizing and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated
by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication for the
purpose of conceptualizing the solution to a problem or developing a policy
programme as a guide for society and government.
 One’s ability to engage in reasoned discourse with intellectual standard such as
clarity, accuracy, precision, and logic, and to use analytical skills with a
fundamental value orientation that emphasize intellectual humility, intellectual
integrity, and fair-mindedness.
 Formation of possible solution to a problem or possible explanation of certain
phenomena.
THE ISLAMIC REVIVALIST FRAMEWORK OF
CRITICAL THINKING (IRFCT)
 The critical thinking process, within the revivalist
tradition, is directed towards the general well-being the
humanity, well-being includes the prosperity, security and
happiness of society in all aspects of life, including
development in areas such as the spiritual, moral, ethical,
material and intellectual.
