It Concerned with how learners can develop their human


potential
It deals with consciousness, values, and abstract beliefs,
including spiritual experiences and the beliefs that people
live and die for
It look at Human behavior not only through the eyes of
the observer, but through the eyes of the person doing the
behaving
Proponents of Humanistic Psychology

Abraham Maslow
o He observed that humans are constantly striving to control
their behavior and seeking to gratify themselves
o He proposed that people’s highest need is self-actualization,
the fulfillment of an individual’s potential
Carl Rogers
o He said people have a natural drive toward self-actualization,
the achievement of one’s full potential
o It is as natural for people to strive for excellence as it is for a
plant to grow
