ULTRASONIC SENSOR & its

WORKING

By Aman Rupareliya
What is an ULTRASONIC Sensor?
• The Ultrasonic Sensor is a Transceiver Module (Transmitter + Receiver).

• It transmits High Frequency Ultrasonic Waves of frequency greater than 20 KHz.

• Intercepts the waves reflected by an obstacle.

• Electrical Signals ↔ Ultrasonic Signals ↔ Electrical Signals

•Operating voltage: +5V.
•Theoretical Measuring Distance: 2cm to 450cm.
•Practical Measuring Distance: 2cm to 80cm.
•Accuracy: 3mm.
•Measuring angle covered: <15°
•Operating Current: <15mA.
•Operating Frequency: 40KHz.
•Trigger pin needs to be made high for 10 uS and the turned off.

APPLICATIONS

Ultrasonic sensors can measure the following parameters,

without even getting in contact with the medium which is
to be measured :
• Distance
• Level
• Presence
• Diameter
• Position
Liquid Level Sensing Trash Level Monitoring

Vehicle Detection, Automotive Assembly,

Uses in Production Lines
and Parking Garage Applications
APPLICATIONS OF IR SENSOR
• Anti-Collision Detection
• People Detection
• Contouring or Profiling
• Presence Detection
• Box Sorting using a Multi-Transducer System
• Easy Control of Trash Collection Vehicles
• Pallet Detection with Forklifts
• Bottle Counting on Drink Filling Machines
Advantages of Ultrasonic Sensors:

• Their small size makes it easy to integrate into projects

• Ultrasonics can easily integrate with any type of controller
• Their high frequency, sensitivity, and power make it easy to detect
objects
• They have greater accuracy than many other methods at measuring
thickness and depth of a parallel surface
• Ultrasonics are easy to use and not dangerous during operation
• An inexpensive option
