What is BSL?

 BSL is short for British Sign Language, it’s the 1st or

preferred language of around 80,000 Deaf people in the
UK. It’s a visual and spatial language that uses key
features such as movement of hands, body, face and
head.

 BSL was recognised as an official British language by the

UK government on 18th March 2003.

 Contrary to belief, BSL is NOT an extension of the English

language. It has its own grammatical rules and structure
and has the full ability to convey any concept or thought.
