Jamaican Culture is enriched by its unique
food, people, music, dance, dressing and
more. It is made from the cultural
adaptation and integration between the
different ethnic groups that makes up our
vibrant country.

Artifacts
Jamaican Artifacts were created by Tainos.
They were painters with paintings on cave
walls, and they were also master carvers,
producing many admirably carved artifacts,
which consists of many items that are used
daily such as, cups, plates, wine glass and
combs.

Stories (Folklore)
Jamaican stories also called
Jamaican Folk Tales are
traditional stories and beliefs that are
told from generation to generation.
Some Folklores, include: Ol’ Higue,
Duppies and The River Mumma.

combination of African and
European influences, some proverbs
include: “Every mikkle mek a
mukkle”, “Talk and taste your
tongue” and “Wanti, wanti, cyan,
getti and getti getti nuh want it”.

Jamaican cultural icons are the
people who have contributed to
Jamaica’s music, art, poets and
novels, some Jamaican icons are:
Louise Bennett-Coverley (Poet and
Activist), Robert Nesta Marley
(Singer-Songwriter) and Usain St.
Leo Bolt (Sprinter).

Jamaican food
Jamaican food is a culinary melting
pot that reflects the cultures which
have influenced Jamaica over the
centuries. Some favorite Jamaican
dishes are: curry goat, fried
dumplings, and ackee and saltfish, to
complement these dishes Jamaica also
has various pastries, breads and
beverages that are popular.

Jamaican dance
Jamaican dance is an artistic
expression, influenced by different
histories and cultures. Some Jamaican
dances include: Bruckins, dinki-minni,
gumbay, kumina and maypole.
