Objectives

Indications
• All VIA positive cases meeting the eligibility criteria and client willing
to take the service
Eligibility Criteria
• Lesion occupies <75% of TZ
• All of the lesion can be seen
• The lesion is not suspicious for cancer
• There are no polyp or scarring
• Non-pregnant
• Currently no severe infection of vagina or cervix
Counselling Tips

• Pre-cancer can become cancer if not treated


• You may feel some abdominal cramps or low back pain
• Watery discharge from vagina is normal till 4 weeks after the
procedure
• A blood spotting and mild discomfort is also normal
• For 4 weeks better not to have sexual intercourse
• Don’t try to clean or put an object in vagina
• You must return for follow up exam
Procedure Steps

Step 3: Heat the lesion
Step 4: Finish the exam and thank the client

• Experience mild cramp
• Feel faint
• Bleed slightly
• Whitish or blood stained discharge

• Heavy bleeding
• Fever with chills
• Severe lower abdominal pain
