Peaceful Living – Few Thoughts

Few facts
 There is nothing I am about to say, that you all do not know, intent is to revisit
as a stimulus point.
 Only if there is a value, would we consider doing anything. What’s in it for
me?
 Is a practiced ability to lead a peaceful life, of Value to you?
 Intellectual understandings mean nothing, only the actions matter.
 Life cannot be a race with a long task list and associated worries.
 Nothing more important than to pause, reflect and proceed.
 For any aspect (Life, Finances, Actions that we need to take) we need to first
get some clarity for our individual selves.
 WHAT IS NEEDED  WHAT DO I HAVE  WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BE DONE.
 Over the few minutes, will cover a few basic thoughts on
 Financial Planning
 Reflecting on Life
 Being Peaceful
 Practice Suggestion.
Financial Planning – Step0
 Financial Responsibility to the family is a primary responsibility and for many
drives all their approach and actions in life..
 How much money is enough for you? Just observe the typical responses,
cost of living, inflation, things I do not control etc etc…
 To get an estimate , should not take more than 15 , 20 minutes.. KEY to do
it..
 Cover the unknown risks via Insurance Plans ( No brainer, to be done
yesterday)
 Medical Insurance : ( Have personal covers for family, Your job is not permanent)
 Life Insurance : ( Treat as cost and get max cover with Term Insurances)
 As in Business, Cash flow and short term liquidity key ( have at least one year
expenses as readily available )
 Your spouse or significant other must have up-to-date information and
access to your funds ( Either/or accounts, nominations, access to
passwords/email, phone patterns , Lockers etc).. If the need is for you, they
must have access.
 De-risking Financial risk to your family , on any eventuality is the primary
need.
Cash Flow Working

• Do a simple paper , pen or a spreadsheet exercise.


• Typical Needs are (What is needed)
1. Recurring Expenses (Living, Education, Travel, Misc, Liabilities, Investments, Premiums)
2. One Time expenses ( College, Wedding, Function,)
3. A Corpus to support (or augment created returns) Retired Living .
Apply inflation adjustment for above
• Look at what you Have
Investments, Timed returns or exits from other holdings ( Land, Equity or any other)

• Have Clear actions on what you need to do.


1. Secure the degree of freedom that you financially have
2. Revisit with clarity on assumptions behind investments , not all stories of past will stay
true in future.
3. Be realistic on assumptions on Social Security or other State supports.

IF YOU DO ABOVE, YOU CAN HAVE MORE OPTIONS ON WHAT YOU WANT IN LIFE, CAREER
AS ANY OTHER MID LIFE RAMBLING ALWAYS HAS A CONNECT TO ABOVE…

Being Peaceful
 Avoiding unnecessary, unproductive mental churn secures Peace. That’s it.
 This also supports one to be very effective and Productive in your Business
or your Corporate Responsibilities. {Critical to understand}
 Mind churns on
 past events ( if only this happened, they had done this, I had done this) OR
 on future ( anxiety over outcomes biz, health, wealth, family, world etc).
 We wrongly have created a practice that Not Worrying  Not Responsible.
 We are also so focused on problem solving that acknowledging what we
have is missed .
 Focusing only on what we control (Thoughts, actions) and avoiding
concerns that we cannot impact on is a relevant first step,
 Our Energy and Bandwidth is finite, by
 having Clarity
 not having the distraction of mental churns
 being focused on the moment and
 Believing in Practice
 We give ourselves the best chance to secure whatever it is that we are after.
Practicing it everyday
P = Positives marked with Gratitude, Physical Activity.
E = Enthusiastic commitment to stay in the moment for the day.
A = Avoiding Mental Churn during the day
C =Compassion for self/Others ( Patience, Lenience)
E = Execute Everyday

Business owners or Corporate Honchos ,(Have Clarity For Self, The Business and the role
you need to deliver to the business).
