Challenges
After several observations for the trench activities we found out that the site team are using labors to clean the last 5-15 cm of loose materials along the trench which takes 5 labors needed to
make the trench ready for inspection request (IR) and to start the next activity. And upon investigation, we discovered the following:

1. It took 4 hours for the labors to finish 20 LM distance resulting to delay in trench inspection.
2. Delay of successor activity. For the laying of bedding material, waiting time of manpower and equipment are observed.

What We Did
With numerous discussion with our PD, PM and construction team, we decided to do the following action:

1. To use clamshell excavator instead of labors in cleaning the trench and minimizing the public disruption due to dust.

Achievements/Savings
1. Using of clamshell excavator to clean the last 5-15 cm of loose material in the trench takes only 30 minutes to finish the same 20 LM. Around 87.5% time savings on trench
cleaning.
2. Trench inspections can now be set earlier than usual and no more idling of manpower & equipment for successor activity.
3. Environmental benefit wherein dust are controlled and not spreading around the site.
