 Give us
Good morning dr. joviner y.
lactam, and also to my
 subject good
classmates in this
morning. My topic is all about
servant leadership. Under
servant leadership we have
the following sub topics.
These are the following.
Now,
These questions will be our points for
reflection in this topic.

It means that servant leader begins with the
natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve
first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire

to lead. That person is sharply different from
one who is leader first, perhaps because of the
need to assuage an unusual power drive or to
acquire material possessions. Servant leaders
are those who put the needs, interests, and
aspirations of others above their own; involve
others in decision making, is strongly based in
ethical and caring behavior, and it enhances the
personal growth of workers while improving
the caring and quality of organizational life.”
 As a servant leader, you're a "servant first" , who
- focuses on the needs of others, especially team
members, before you consider your own.

– acknowledges other people's perspectives
– gives them the support they need to meet their
work and personal goals,
– involves them in decisions where appropriate
– builds a sense of community within your team.

leading to higher engagement, more trust, and stronger

relationships with team members and other
stakeholders and increased innovation.
A servant leader shares power, puts
the needs of the employees first and
 and perform as
helps people develop
highly as possible.[1] Servant
leadership inverts the norm, which
puts the service associates as a main
priority. Instead of the people
working to serve the leader, the
leader exists to serve the people.

 Servant leaders have certain assets on
which to become servant leaders.
These assets are built upon ten
characteristics.
Listening, empathy, healing,
awareness, persuasion ,
conceptualization, stewardship,
commitment, and building community.
1: LISTENING

A leader needs to be able to listen to what
his/her employees have to say. Make a
deep commitment to listening intently to
them and understanding what they're
saying. Give people your full attention,
take notice of their body language, avoid
interrupting them before they've finished
speaking, and give feedback on what
they say.
2: EMPATHY

A servant leader manages need to empathize
with the employees in an attempt to
understand what they are wanting or needing.
Servant leaders strive to understand other
people's intentions and perspectives. Value
others' perspectives, and approach situations
with an open mind.
3: HEALING

A Servant leader needs to be able to make
the entire department whole as this will
help them to better understand the
goings on in the department. People
should have the knowledge, support and
resources they need to do their jobs
effectively.
4: AWARENESS

A servant leader needs to make sure to be
aware of what is going on in the
department along with being aware of
any sensitive issues that there may be.
Know your strengths and weaknesses
and asking for other people's feedback on
them. “without awareness, we miss
leadership opportunities”
5: PERSUASION

A servant leader needs to be able to
persuade the department as a way to be
able to make decisions and be an
authority figure. Servant leaders use
persuasion – rather than their authority –
to encourage people to take action. They
aim to build consensus in groups, so that
everyone supports decisions.
6: CONCEPTUALIZATION

A servant leader need to plan for the
future and have a visions or goal for what
the future may hold. Develop long term
focus so that you stay motivated to
achieve the more distance goals without
getting distracted. Conceptualization-
“conceive solutions to problems that do
not currently exist”
7: FORESIGHT

Servant leader need to be able to see what could be a
likely outcome for a situation that may have
occurred before in the past, as well as anticipate the
realities of the present and any unseen consequences
of the future. Foresight- is a better than average
guess about what is going to happen in the future”.
This characteristic builds off conceptualization.
Learn to trust your intuition – if your instinct is
telling you that something is wrong, listen to it!
8: STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship- “organizational stewards, or
trustees are concerned not only for the individual
followers within the group, but also the
organization as a whole, and its impact on
relationship with all society”
A servant leader need to hold the main goal of
the department above their own personal goals.
Lead by example by demonstrating the values
and behaviours that you want to see in others
9: COMMITMENT

Servant leader need to dedicate ample
time and energy to the overall well being
of the employees in the department as
well as any individuals they may serve.
Servant leaders are committed to the
personal and professional development
of everyone on their teams.
10: COMMUNITY BUILDING

Community Building- “the rise of large
institutions has eroded community, the social
pact that reunites individuals in a society”.
Providing opportunities for people to interact
with one another across the company -
organizing social events such as team lunches,
designing your workspace to encourage people
to chat informally away from their desks, and
dedicating the first few minutes of meetings to
non-work-related conversations.
