The key to any successful test is a true and accurate WireList. Because of the complexity of
many products (or the inclusion of components and component networks), you may find that
you cannot use the New Product Wizard to generate WireLists for your product.
In these circumstances it is more practical to generate them outside of the Discovery
environment.
The MPT WireList is a comma delimited ASCII file that can be read by any spreadsheet
application (e.g. Microsoft Excel) and by a text editor (e.g. Scintilla Editor)
The file extension for the WireList is ‘CSV’, which is an acronym for Comma Separated
Values.

Connector Label:
The mating connector to the product under test (PUT).
Each connector on your product must have a unique label (E.g. J1, J2, J3,… etc.)
Pin Label:
The connector pin at the product under test.
Each pin on each connector must have a unique label (alpha or numeric).
Net Number:
A unique number for each set of shorted test points (Auto-entered during Learn or manually entered).
Order Number:
The order the pin occurs in the Net (Auto-entered during Learn or manually entered).

Test program generation can be simplified by adding all passive components (Resistors, Diodes, and
Capacitors) in your product to the WireList.
Discovery’s test algorithms will take these components into consideration as it performs Low Voltage
Isolation tests and HiPot cycles.

Product
Project file for the MPT product. Has the .MPT extension. All files associated with the project
are referenced here.
NetList
A Net oriented view of the Address Table
(Automatically generated/updated from the Address Table)
Connectors
View all connectors referenced in the Address Table.
Tare (optional)
Associated files can be used to improve the accuracy of two wire resistance measurements.
Associated files must be referenced in the test list to be used.
Static Tare
General Tare file used to negate the resistance and capacitance of the MPT, adapters, and or
fixtures.
Dynamic Tare
A real-time means of adjusting the static tare values based on sampling of reserved adapter
points.
Drawing (optional)
DXF file used for visualization of product under test. An associated file will open in the DXF
viewer during product testing.
Report
Associated file (.LOT) contains results of the last test run on the product.
Result Table
Associated file (.DBF) contains the raw result data of the last test run on the product.
Additional Files
Associated files can be any additional file you would like to be part of the MPT project (e.g.
HTML, INI, CAL, etc..)
Console
Opens the Console window (if closed)
2. Name each connector and define the number of points they each have.
– J1, J2,… etc..
3. Map each point of each connector to the MPT system points using
Probe or Manually.
– It is highly recommended to Probe adapter cabling and fixtures at least once to
ensure proper wiring and good connections.
