Doctor is an academic title that originates from
the Latin word of the same spelling and meaning.
The word is originally an agentive noun of the
Latin verb docēre 'To Teach'. It has been used as
an academic title in Europe since the 13th century,
when the first doctorates were awarded at the
University of Bologna and the University of Paris.

Stethoscope Thermometer

The stethoscope is an acoustic medical device for
auscultation, or listening to internal sounds of an
animal or human body. It typically has a small disc-
shaped resonator that is placed against the skin, and
one or two tubes connected to two earpieces. A
stethoscope can be used to listen to the sounds made
by the heart, lungs or intestines, as well as blood
flow in arteries and veins.
A thermometer is a device that measures temperature
or a temperature gradient (the degree of hotness or
coldness of an object). A thermometer has two
important elements: (1) a temperature sensor in which
some change occurs with a change in temperature;
and (2) some means of converting this change into a
numerical value
