STRATEGY
- A careful plan or method for achieving
a particular goal usually over a long
period of time.
- Skill of making or carrying out plans
to achieve a goal.
- Generally involves setting goals,
determining actions to achieve the
goals, and mobilizing resources to
execute the actions.
PLANNING
- Is the process of thinking about the activities
required to achieve a desired goal.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
- Strategic Planning is a tool to define where
an organization wants to go and what actions
will take to achieve the goal.

- A methodical and meticulous method to


produce fundamental decisions and actions that
shape and guide what an organization is, who it
serves, what it does, and why it does with a
focus on the future.
- Strategic planning is an overall defined
course of organizational action that guides day
to day decision-making and activity.
* The plan examines and reflects an
organization values, current status , and
environment- and it relates those factors to
the organization’s desired future state, usually
expressed in five to ten years time periods.
*The plan defines how resources will be used
in the given timeline.
* The plan is based on both the
organization’s internal environment and
the external action field in which the
organization operates.
* The plan is both reaction to, and a tool
for adapting to, environment changes and
creating an organization’s future within
its changing environments.
* The plan is aimed to achieve goals and
objectives.
THE BENEFITS OF STRATEGIC PLANNING
- It allows organizations to be pro-active rather than reactive –
a strategic plan allows organization to foresee their future and
to prepare accordingly.
- It sets up a sense of direction- strategic plan helps to define
the direction in which an organization must travel, and aids in
establishing realistic objectives and goals that are inline with
the vision and mission.
- It increases operational efficiency- provide management the
roadmap to align the organization’s functional activities to
achieve set goals. It guide management discussions and
decision making in determining resources and budget
requirements to accomplish set objective.

► Step 1- WRITE A VISION STATEMENT
 A vision statement is a statement that gives the reader and more
importantly, the organization a mental picture of what the organization hopes
to become what the organization hopes to achieve.
► Step 2- WRITE A MISSION STATEMENT
- A mission statement is an explanation of why an organization exists and the path it will
take to achieve its vision
► Step 3- PERFORM A GAP ANALYSIS
 A gap analysis is a process an organization goes through, to identify the gaps between
its current state and what it hopes to achieve- its vision
► WRITE A SMART GOALS
