Introduction
• DOS was firstly widely installed OS for personal computers.
• It controls the computer’s hardware and provides an environment for
programs to run.
• DOS is a single user OS.
• MS-DOS is an operating system for x86-based personal computers mostly
developed by Microsoft.
Major task of DOS
 To control input and output devices.
 To enable user to load and execute program.
 To maintain an orderly system of data on the disk.
