Computer virus
 Computer virus is a program that has infected some executable software and, when
run, causes the virus to spread to other executable

 WHAT IS A WORM??

A worm is a program that actively transmits itself over a network to infect other
computers.

 WHAT IS A TROJEN HORSE??

A Trojan horse is any program that legitimate invites the user to run it, concealing
harmful or malicious code.Once a malicious program is installed on a system, it is
essential that it stays concealed, to avoid detection. Software packages known as root
kits allow this concealment, by modifying the host's operating system so that the
malware is hidden from the user.A backdoor is a method of bypassing normal
authentication procedures. Once a system has been compromised, one or more
backdoors may be installed in order to allow easier access in the future. Backdoors
may also be installed prior to malicious software, to allow attackers entry.

Softwares terms

 Freeware(general) is copyrighted computer software which is made available


for use free of charge, for an unlimited time. Authors of freeware often want to
"give something to the community", but also want to retain control of any
future development of the software.

 Example: adobe reader, skype etc

 The term shareware refers to most of the features of a paid


software for a limited period. The file can be shared to others as
well but once the limited time period is over, the user has to pay
to use the software further.

 An example is Adobe Photoshop.

 Free software is computer software that is distributed along


with its source code, and is released under terms that guarantee
users the freedom to study, adapt/modify, and distribute the
software (apache, mySql etc)
