-the acronym MARS stands for Motivation,
Ability,  Role perceptions and Situational factors.
MOTIVATION
It is a person's voluntary choice of behavior.

Direction
    > goal-directed, not random.

Intensity
    > effort allocated

Persistence
    > continuing effort
ABILITY
Natural aptitudes and learned capabilities
required to successfully complete a task

ROLE PERCEPTION
Beliefs about what behavior is required to
achieve the desired results
