control the dosages and drips given to

patients. Software and medical tech allows
nurses to change the drip amounts and
medication doses so patients aren’t waiting for
changes.
Portable monitors.
PORTABLE MONITOR

Cardiac monitoring, which generally refers to continuous

electrocardiography with assessment of the patients condition
relative to their cardiac rhythm. A small monitor worn by an
ambulatory patient for this purpose is known as a Holter
monitor. Cardiac monitoring can also involve cardiac output
monitoring via an invasive Swan-Ganz catheter.
Hemodynamic monitoring, which monitors the
blood pressure and blood flow within the circulatory
system. Blood pressure can be measured either
invasively through an inserted blood pressure
transducer assembly, or noninvasively with an
inflatable blood pressure cuff.
Respirator y monitoring , such as:

Pulse oximetr y which involves measurement of the saturated

percentage of oxygen in the blood, referred to as SpO2, and measured
by an infrared fi nger cuff

Capnography, which involves CO2 measurements, referred to as

EtCO2 or end-tidal carbon dioxide concentration. The respirator y rate
monitored as such is called AWRR or airway respirator y rate)

Respirator y rate monitoring through a thoracic transducer belt, an

ECG channel or via capnography
Smart beds
Smart medical beds are integrated
solutions for patient care, assistance
and monitoring, based on a
comprehensive, multidisciplinary
design approach.
Wearable devices

Wearable devices and mobile apps are

transforming the healthcare industry. Devices
that help track heart rates, exercise, sleep,
respiration, and more, are helping people take
their health into their own hands.
Electronic health records.

Electronic health records (EHR) are taking over older paper

filing methods. Electronic health records allow nursing experts
to document care provided to patients, and retrieve
information that can help prioritize care. Additionally
information entered into computer systems, can then be
accessed by the care team, including doctors and even patients
themselves when necessary.
Telehealth
and apps.
TELEHEALTH AND APPS

Telehealth is a new and valuable element in

healthcare. Hospitals and clinics allow patients
to virtually video-chat with a doctor or nurse.
Patients are able to describe their symptoms, or
show doctors things like rashes or bumps.
