THE INDIAN FLAG
•This the flag of India.
•The capital city of India is New Delhi.
•The flag of India has 4 colors.
•In the middle of the flag there is a symbol
of a Chakra.
COLORS OF INDIAN FLAG
• There are 4 colours.
• The first colour which can be seen on the top of the flag is
Saffron. Saffron represents Courage and sacrifice.
• The second colour is White and it represents truth and purity.
• The third colour which can be seen at the bottom of the flag is
green and it represents faith, fertility and growth.
• Last one is the wheel (DHARMA CHAKRA) which can be seen in
the middle of the white colour. It is the wheel of virtue and it also
represents motion or growth.
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT INDIAN FLAG
• Indian flag is known as the tri-colour flag and each of its elements represent certain
things.
• The Ashok Chakra was adopted from the Lion Capital of Ashoka.
• There were many flags used for struggle of Independence from the Britishers, but on July
22, 1947, the current Indian flag was used and after India’s independence on August 15,
1947, this flag was established as the national flag.
• All the colours in the Indian flag must be of equal length and width. The length of the flag
must be 1.5 times more than its width.
• On May 29th, 1953, the Indian flag was hoisted upon the Mt. Everest along with the
Nepalese National flag and the Union Jack.
