Ischaemic Heart Disease?
-defined as inadequate blood supply (circulation) to a local area due to
blockage of the blood vessels supplying the area.
-Also called coronary heart disease (CHD).
-Ischemic means that an organ (e.g., the heart) is not getting enough blood
and oxygen.
-Heart Disease means A type of disease that affects the heart or blood vessels.
It normally happens when cholesterol
which are fatty deposits accumulates
on the artery walls, that creates
plaques. The arteries are being
tightened that makes blood difficult to
flow in the heart. This blockages
causes myocardial infarction or what
we all know as heart attack.
Causes
• heart disease develops when cholesterol particles in the
blood begin to accumulate on the walls of the arteries that
supply blood to the heart.
• caused by a decrease in blood flow through one or more of
the blood vessels that carry oxygen to your heart (coronary
arteries).
• disease occurs most frequently in people who have
atherosclerosis (buildup of plaque on the walls of the
coronary arteries), blood clot, coronary artery spasm, or
severe illnesses that increase the heart’s need for oxygen.
