Faith in God's

Perfect
Habakkuk 1:5

Look at the nations and watch—

and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your
days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.
Let's always remember:

Faith is taking the first step even

when you don't see the whole
staircase.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
What if....?

Rush things in love

Marry the wrong person you are dating because you could not wait for God’s
perfect timing to bring you the mate He has chosen for your life

Rush to get a new job

Take the next, new, wrong job because you could not wait for God to promote you
into the next, new job He will want you to have

Rush to make things better

Building a sturdy and strong house does not take an overnight building process. It
takes days, weeks and even months for it to be ready.
THEY THAT WAITED FAITHFULLY IN GOD'S PERFECT TIME
Hebrews 6:13-15
Abraham
Awaiting the fulfillment of a promise

13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there

was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,
14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many
descendants.”
15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what
was promised.
Abraham
Awaiting the fulfillment of a promise

He gladly followed and trusted God by offering his son Isaac as a

acrifice, knowing that God would bring Isaac to life and keep
His word (Hebrews 11:17-19). This sacrifice of Abraham's son
oreshadowed God's intentions and goals through Jesus, who
would offer Himself as a sacrifice for the blessing of all nations.
saac had been rescued. At the allotted time, God's only Son,
esus, would be the sacrifice.
Joseph
Genesis 50:20
WAITING FOR A PURPOSE IN PRISON

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good

to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of
many lives
Joseph
WAITING FOR A PURPOSE IN PRISON

Eventually Pharaoh made Joseph the second-in-command in all

of Egypt. From prison to power, Joseph was placed strategically
by God to prepare the land against a famine. His position in
Egypt fulfilled the dream he had that he would rule over his
family as they came to Egypt for food during the famine. In the
years of Joseph waiting in prison, he trusted in God and the Lord
blessed him and saved many lives through him.

Moses, Caleb and Joshua
Waiting in the Wilderness for God's Promise

Because your men explored the land for forty

days, you must wander in the wilderness for forty
years—a year for each day, suffering the
consequences of your sins
Moses, Caleb and Joshua
Waiting in the Wilderness for God's Promise

In times of waiting, there may be temptations to not trust that

God will do what He has promised. We may want to listen to the
many voices around us which cause us to doubt God and instill
fear in us, which is not from God (2 Timothy 1:7). May our
attitudes be like Caleb and Joshua who did not rebel against the
Lord, nor place their trust in man, but remained loyal to God
knowing He was with them (Numbers 14:8-9).
Psalm 40:1
David
WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO BE KING

I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me

and heard my cry
David
WAITING FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO BE KING

David did ascend to the throne in time, but had to overcome

many obstacles before the promise was realized. God granted
David a lot of success and favor with his people when he was
king. There is a time for everything and every matter under
heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Waiting can be for a short or long
season, but God remains the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
through it all (1 Timothy 6:15).
Daniel
Daniel 9:3
WAITING FOR A MIRACLE IN PRAYER

So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in

prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and
ashes
Daniel
WAITING FOR A MIRACLE IN PRAYER

Daniel’s prayers reached God from the very first day. This is an
encouragement to continue and persist in our conversations with
the Lord for He hears the prayers of the righteous (Psalm 34:17).
When it is hard to pray in the waiting, we are wise to remember
the words of Oswald Chambers: “Prayer does not fit us for the
greater work; prayer is the greater work.”
Genesis 29:18
Jacob
WAITING FOR SOMEONE'S YES

Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, “I’ll work

for you seven years in return for your younger
daughter Rachel.”
Jacob
WAITING FOR SOMEONE'S YES

Jacob and Rachel proved to be a very good example of a love

marriage. Jacob’s love for Rachel has become famous, maybe for
good reason. But the marriage of Jacob and Rachel does not end
“happily ever after.” When Jacob left Padanaram 20 years later,
he had gained great wealth through raising cattle, sheep, and
goats. But Jacob and Rachel went through many difficult times
together. Jacob and Rachel’s marriage was not always perfect, but
they never stopped loving each other. Their strong love helped
them go through hardships. Rachel’s early death did not weaken
Jacob’s love for her children but rather made it stronger.
JESUS
Luke 3:21-23
WAITING TO BEGIN HIS MINISTRY

the heavens were opened, and the Holy Spirit

descended on him in bodily form, like a dove; and a
voice came from heaven, ‘You are my beloved Son;
with you I am well pleased.’ Jesus, when he began his
ministry, was about thirty years of age…”
JESUS
WAITING TO BEGIN HIS MINISTRY

Jesus entered our world over 2,000 years ago to take the sins of
the world upon Himself. He brought good news to a world that
needed and continues to need hope and reconciliation in
relationship to God. God the Father knows the appointed time for
all things, including when Jesus will return. Will we make the
best use of our time, including in times of waiting? We do not
know when Jesus will return or when our lives on earth will come
to an end, but we do have an everlasting hope found in Jesus.
Let’s make our waiting worth it and trust Him in all things and at
all times. He is faithful and keeps His promises.
What can I get from waiting?

8 Lessons we can get from waiting

Lesson 1
WAITING ON THE LORD BUILD ENDURANCE

Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience
- Colossians 1:11

The promises we pray for, like as a promotion, a new business, a marriage, or a kid, all need a substantial amount of
perseverance in order to be fulfilled. Our all-knowing Father understands our capabilities and, in his mercy, does not give us
what we are not prepared for. This bible passage about waiting on God's timing reminds us that God's plans for our life will
need patience, but he is faithful to provide us with all we need while we wait.
Lesson 2
WAITING ON THE LORD PREPARES YOU FOR THE PROMISE

Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.
- 1 Corinthians 1:7

God often makes us wait as an answer to prayers we aren’t quite ready for. At times we still have habits that are not
conducive to the place we are wanting to be. Perhaps your dream position requires a level of organization that you have yet
to master. When we wait on the Lord our priorities are shifted and we begin to desire things the way he has laid out for us in
the bible. As we wait on the Lord our capacity is stretched and we can receive even greater than we could have even asked
Lesson 3
WAITING ON GOD PROTECTS US FROM DANGER

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
- John 13:7

When we wait, we listen. When God causes us to wait he is giving us space to be able to hear his voice, undistracted by the
conflicting voices which surround us. He is giving us a space to be encouraged and strengthened and healed by him. He is
trying to hide us from the dangers that we would inevitably walk into by trying to rush the end goal. We want the promise
now.
Lesson 4
WAITING ON GOD TO ANSWER OUR PRAYERS ALLOWS US TO
KNOW MORE ABOUT THE CHARACTER OF GOD

Therefore the LORD longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you For the LORD is a God of justice;
How blessed are all those who long for Him.
- Isaiah 30:18

He doesn’t want to give us anything that would keep us from him. He knows us, intimately, and he wants us to know him
intimately. He wants us to know that he wants to give us every good thing that he has for us, but as a Father, he doesn’t want
to give us anything that will ultimately hurt us, or cause us to move further from him. So, he is patient with us, allowing us
to mature before propelling us to the next level in this journey.
Lesson 5
WAITING ALLOWS GOD TO SHOW US WHO WE ARE AND WHAT
WE ARE CAPABLE OF

With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible
- Matthew 29:16

Instead of seeing the bad through my eyes of regret and frustration, pray to see it through Gods eyes, asking for his wisdom.
It’s amazing how much He reveals to us by simply taking this approach, we are able to see life through his lens and see just
how perfect our imperfect past has been. You begin to see the spaces where he grew you, where he perfected your mindsets,
and healed your heart. You start to see how he was preparing you to be everything you would need to be for the promise.
This makes the waiting easier as you begin embracing the current season as a space for growth with the Father.
Lesson 6
WAITING ASSURES US OF WHAT WE ARE SAYING YES TO

nd this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us: And if we know that He hear us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.
- 1 John 5:14-15

When we try to walk ahead of God, the passion that drives that thing eventually runs out. We end up running out of steam
and looking towards the nest thing. The moment we press into God and seek his guidance and direction, we begin to see the
pathways unfold. We start to see a clearer picture of what we have said yes to in the first place.
Lesson 7
WAITING ASSURES US OF WHAT WE ARE SAYING YES TO

but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall
walk and not faint.
- Isaiah 40:31

The last benefit of waiting upon the Lord is by far my favorite! As we wait well and press into the giver with prayer and
bible study our hearts are expanded as we get to know God more. Waiting well involves our intentional determination to find
purpose in the everyday parts of our life. Waiting on God allows us to break the cycle of striving and gain the sweet rest that
God so wants us to have.
Lesson 8
WHERE DOES YOUR HEART LIE

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
- Matthew 6:21

Here’s the thing. If you can’t be happy with what you have in this world right now, then you won’t be happy with more. We
outwardly said that we wanted God and eternal life with Him in heaven, however, the desires of our hearts were more
money, more things, more healthy days, more, more, more.
Can you trust that God's Timing is
Perfect?

We know that waiting is hard. We pride ourselves on being transparent and We are sure we
will be a terrible waiter. My patience ebbs and flows nearly by the minute. There is a light to
this. When we remember that the journey is PART of the promise, it makes the waiting
easier. We must remember that we are walking this journey with God, it is not something he’s
subjecting us to. Knowing this allows us to position ourselves to live a fulfilled contented
life! God’s timing is perfect and his answer to your prayer will come right on time.
Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything appropriate in its

time. He has also set eternity in their heart,
yet so that man will not find out the work
which God has done from the beginning
even to the end.
