Canticle of Zechariah

A Blessed be the Lord, the God of

Israel,
B he has come to His people and
set them free.
C He has raised up for us a mighty
savior,
D born of the house of His servant
David.
AThrough His holy prophets he
promised of old
Bthat He would save us from
our enemies, from the hands of
all who hate us,
CHe promised to show mercy to
our ancestors,
Dand to remember His holy
covenant.
AThis was the oath He swore to
our father Abraham:
Bto set us free from the hands
of our enemies,
Cfree to worship Him without
fear,
Dholy and righteous in His sight
all the days of our life.
AYou, my child, shall be called
the prophet of the Most High:
Bfor you will go before the Lord
to prepare His way,
Cto give His people knowledge
of salvation
Dby the forgiveness of their
sins.
AIn the tender compassion of
our God
Bthe dawn from on high shall
break upon us,
Cto shine on those who dwell in
the darkness and the shadow of
death,
Dand to guide our feet into the
way of peace.
AGlory to the Father and to
the Son
Band to the Holy Spirit.
CAs it was in the beginning,
is now,
Dand will be forever. Amen.
