So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what
you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to
come up and sit with him. 32 Now the passage of the Scripture that he was reading was this:
“Like a sheep he was led to the slaughter and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he opens not
his mouth. 33 In his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his
life is taken away from the earth.”
34 And the eunuch said to Philip, “About whom, I ask you, does the prophet say this, about himself
or about someone else?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told
him the good news about Jesus. 36 And as they were going along the road they came to some water,
and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?”
Acts 8: 30-36

And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord carried Philip away, and the eunuch
saw him no more, and went on his way rejoicing

And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” 27 And
beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things
concerning himself.
28 So they drew near to the village to which they were going. He acted as if he were going farther, 29
but they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, for it is toward evening and the day is now far
spent.” So he went in to stay with them. 30 When he was at table with them, he took the bread and
blessed and broke it and gave it to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.
And he vanished from their sight. 32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us
while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”
Luke 24:25-32

I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. 8 I will keep your statutes;
do not utterly forsake me!

Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the
Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit,4 he spoke and taught
accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in
the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of
God more accurately. 27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the
disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, 28 for he
powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.
