 Objectives of the Study
Following are the two objectives:
1). To determine the availability of library resources
in model schools and colleges of Islamabad.
2). To determine the services provided by libraries
of model schools and colleges of Islamabad.
Research questions are as under:
RQ1. What is the current status of library resources in
model schools and colleges?

RQ2. What services are being provided by libraries

of model schools and colleges to the users?
 Methodology
Population and Sampling
Total population: Twenty Libraries
Pilot study: Five Libraries
Population of the study: Fifteen Libraries
Sampling: Census method
Data Collection
The direct administered questionnaire method was
adopted for collection of data.
Data Analysis
The collected data was tabulated and analyzed by using relevant
statistical and mathematical techniques. SPSS 20.0 was used to
produce relevant inferential and descriptive statistics.

Nine libraries have not appropriate library buildings.
Eight libraries need more funds/budget
Nine libraries used closed or locked shelves access.
All the libraries need more A/V, CDs/DVDs and E-
Books Collection.
The professional staff of the libraries is inadequate.
Three libraries have Internet facility and ten libraries
have computer for the use of library staff.
Two libraries provide Internet and computer facility
to the users.
Nine libraries have no written/approved rules.
 Recommendations
Qualified librarian should be appointed in these
libraries.
Internet facility should be provided to all the
libraries for the use of modern e-resources.
Computers should be provided to all the libraries for
use of library staff and the users.
Suitable library buildings should be provided to
batter facilitate the users.
Allthe libraries should have written/approved rules
and regulations.
 Directions for Future Research
The area of research can be extended to all the
schools and colleges of Islamabad under the FDE.

A comparative study between various colleges can

also be done.

Itis also further recommended that there should be

surveys of school libraries regarding their resource
and services at national level.
