11. What Business problems did Smart selling addresses? How did they approach?

What were the key variables?

Problem
With 105 countries, Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMA) was an enormously varied market with a fragmented retail sector filled by
tiny owner-operators, making it far more difficult to acquire reliable, accurate data throughout the AMA region's hundreds of thousands
of small businesses.

Approach
1. They created an algorithm that used historical AMA sales data to forecast sales strategies at the store level.

2. The algorithm detects the best-selling goods in stores closer to the target store and then determines which SKUs
(Stock Keeping Units) at the target store were undersold. These SKUs were recommended to target stores as high
priority.

3. They had various recommendations after profiling each store, such as the best product mix, advertising particular
items, and altering the frequency of those products' promotions.

4. These suggestions were incorporated into the Smart Sales App.

5. This app was distributed to all in-store sellers, and it assisted in-store teams in swiftly prioritizing work at the store
level and optimizing time spent among other things.
Key Variables

1. Prioritizing Task: With the smart sale app, in-store sellers may now propose five high-priority activities that have the
greatest influence on sales, such as addressing stock out for best-selling items, addressing shrinking space for a certain
product category, or alerting the store manager to a poor product mix.

2. Optimizing Investment : PnG invests in a variety of store elements, such as touch and feel units and testers, where
items, such as perfume, may be physically experienced before purchase. PnG's in-store team may now use the App to
capture photos of these features to track compliance at the local store level. By applying business analytics, PnG could
guide retailers on the right investment choices to drive category growth. Which company believed will have a win-win
situation for brand and store owners.
12. What Business problems did Smart product addresses? How did they approach? What were the
key variables?

• The 3 objective of the smart products are:

1) They enhanced the consumer experience.

2) They generated granular , first part consumer data.

3) They enabled P&G to experiment with a model of selling direct to consumers (DTC)

Approach
In 2019, P&G built its own IOT platform to allow the company to centrally collect and compare data across all of its smart
products. They develop 2 key smart products.
